La pandemia llega a la NFL: primer partido aplazado

La pandemia de coronavirus llega a la NFL. La cuarta semana de temporada regular será la primera en la que un partido se aplace por varios contagios de un equipo. Tras varias semanas teniendo la situación bajo control gracias a pruebas masivas y aislando efectivamente a los pocos positivos que había, los Tennessee Titans han reportado hasta nueve contagios en su plantilla (cinco miembros del staff y cuatro jugadores).

La primera reacción ante esta cadena de contagios fue cerrar las instalaciones de entrenamiento de los Titans. Hicieron lo propio los Minnesota Vikings, que habían jugado contra los de Tennessee el pasado domingo. Después de someter a pruebas a toda su plantilla, los Vikings informaron que ningún miembro del equipo había dado positivo, por lo que su partido del próximo domingo ante los Houston Texans no peligraría.

Por su parte, el partido de los Titans, que debían jugar este domingo ante los Pittsburgh Steelers, sí se verá modificado. Pese a la inicial negativa de la NFL de cambiar la fecha del encuentro, finalmente el comisionado Roger Goodell ha cedido y en un comunicado, la liga ha anunciado el aplazamiento, siendo la sesión nocturna del lunes la que más posibilidades tiene de albergar el enfrentamiento. "El partido entre Steelers y Titans, previsto originalmente para el domingo, será reprogramado para permitir tiempo adicional para realizar pruebas de coronavirus y para asegurar la salud y seguridad de los jugadores, entrenadores y personal de los equipos. Los detalles sobre la nueva fecha y hora del partido, que será el lunes o el martes, serán anunciados lo antes posible", rezaba la nota emitida.
